Amsterdam: De Groene Amsterdam. Original wraps. Very Good. A remarkable collection of anti-German illustrations by the Dutch artist L.J. Jordaan which appeared between 1940 and 1945 in Amsterdam's leading weekly newspaper "De Groene". Executed in lavish color --and with startling artistic skill-- these pointed attacks on all things Nazi-related cut very deep and seem reminiscent in their jagged edge to the great Arthur Szyk. Collected in this wrappered, spiral-bound edition, the album has held up nicely. Clean and VG, with the immaculate plates on the rectos and accompanying text in Dutch on the versos. The fragile panels slightly detached at the spine ends but still sturdy and holding strong. Tall quarto, 31 extraordinary L.J. Jordaan illustrations (including the title page) all told.
