1901. SEKKA, Kamisaka. Koromogae. Two volumes. Comprised of 100 colour woodblock prints. Oblong 4to., 190 x 260 mm, bound in original silk over boards in a new cloth chitsu case. Kyoto: Yamada Unsôdô, Meji 34 [1901]. A beautiful copy of this splendid textile pattern book of supreme elegance featuring 100 coloured woodcut designs by Kamisaka Sekka. The images are made up mostly of natural scenes including birds, flowers, trees, shells etc., depicted with fine silver ink lines over colourful backgrounds. The work was published by the prolific Yamada Unsôdô, who also published Sekka's masterpiece, Momoyogusa (1909-1910). Sekka (1866-1942) "was a genius; effortlessly, prodigiously, boundlessly imaginative, tirelessly inventive, spontaneous and free" (Ehon p. 240).
