- London: William Ball, 1838
London: William Ball, 1838. xii, 323, (1), (4) pp.
History and survey of the "coloured races in British Colonies," with particular emphasis on New Zealand. Bannister, first Attorney General of New South Wales, had a liberal attitude which did not serve him well in terms of his career. He returned to London after a couple of years in Sydney and composed several works urging reform in the treatment of aboriginal people througout the empire. Ferguson 2438 cites two issues of this book which are distinguished by the ads. This copy has the 4 page catalog of "New Works by William Ball" at back, making it the second issue. Scarce, Worldcat shows only three libraries holding hard copies of either edition. Small circular blindstamp on title page and page ix, otherwise a fine untrimmed copy bound in originjal blind stamped cloth and rebacked in matching cloth with title in gold. .
