[Montgomery, AL?], 1867. Printed broadsheet, 23 x 7 1/2 in., in various sizes and styles of type, including display types. Toning and rumpling to paper, small holes and breaks in the paper at margins, occasionally affecting a letter or two; loss to upper right corner at margin (not affecting text), still a nice example. Small oval blue stamp, presumably contemporary, at left margin, name of company trimmed, the remainder reads: "News Dealer, Books, Stationary, &c. Post Office Montgomery, Ala." Musical performances by Miss Marie Dalton and Miss T. MacEvoy, plus the celebrated Irish comic vocalist, Mr. Charles MacEvoy, appearing as "Barney, the Guide." The program includes a "tour" of Dublin, Wicklow, Cork and Killarney. "Prices of Admission. Dress Circle 75 cts. Parquette 50 cts. Children Half Price. Colored Circle 50 cts." Signed in type by Jas. Finch, Agent. Charles MacEvoy and his troupe performed this popular sketch throughout the United States in the 1860's, combining "splendid paintings" of Irish scenes in a moving panorama, along with musical and comedy sketches.
