Paris: Galerie Lutetia, 1932. First edition. Softcover. vg. Quarto. Original pochoir-illustrated paper portfolio containing four loose leaves, as issued.

Delightful series of four colorful hand-colored pochoirs by Carlos Bady titled "La Journée de Mado" (Mado’s Day), and published in Paris circa 1932 by Galerie Lutetia. The series comprises the following pochoir plates illustrating four scenes in the life of Mado, a beautiful young Parisian woman:

- Mado Babille (Mado is chatting over the phone - with one cherub listening to the conversation, and another one watching the scene)

- Mado se maquille (Mado is putting make-up on - with the assistance of the same two cherubs)

- Mado s'habille (Mado gets dressed - also with the assistance of the same cherubs!)

- Mado se déshabille (Mado gets undressed by two different cherubs)

The colors are among the most vibrant ever produced. Along with Raoul Dufy and Paul Allier, Carlos Bady was among the last artists to produce this style of beautiful pochoir prints. Approximate size of each plate: Paper 9 1/2 x 7". Image 8 x 6" .

Minor and sporadic creasing and age-toning along edges of portfolio. Title and captions in French. Portfolio in overall good+ to very good, pochoir plates in near fine to fine condition.
