First edition. This work is an introductory book on chess written by Xavier Tartakover and published in 1934 and now considered a classic. Tartakover drafted the Breviary after its best period of activity, which has earned him the title of International Grand Master in 1950. The book has a strong focus on openings, chess theory; however, the playful tone of the Breviary not only makes it accessible to novice players but also inimitable and distracting. Julius (truncated)
