Decorative orange cloth stamped in black on front and spine with the smaller owl and the three-bell jester, blind-stamped on rear board, gilt-stamped on spine. Owner decorative bookplate on front pastedown, small typed note stating the jester's cap has only three bells tipped in on front fly, front hinge repaired, spine cocked, spine ends and corners bumped, a good only copy. A fictionalized account of how Reconstruction period after the Civil War was sabotaged, condoning violence against African-Americans. Scarce copy with the three-bell jester on the cloth. (truncated)
