London: J. Nourse, 1756. First English language edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Contemporary morocco, boards ruled in gilt, rebacked, with original backstrip laid down (5 gult-ruled raised bands, otherwise unadorned); 8vo; pp. [lx], 339, [5] (ads). Boards a bit scuffed; NOT the most subtle rebacking this cataloguer has ever seen. First and last few leaves a bit browned, mostly along the edges; contemporary ownership and library markings (discreet) on FFEP and title-p.; library bookplates on front paste-down; small chip out of the center final leaf (ad), affecting the text.

Etienne Condillac is remembered as an important psychologist, and he also helped establish the principles of Locke for a French audience. (Locke, prior to Condillac, had previously benefited from the attention of Voltaire, but in a less systematic manner.) Thomas Nugent was a prolific translator and travel writer.
