by DAVIS, Richard Harding
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1902. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition, first printing. Pictorial brown cloth stamped in color and gilt, top edge gilt. Illustrated by Frederic Remington, F. Dorr Steele, and others. Owner's name on preliminary, gutter cracked, spine faded and stained, about very good copy lacking the dustwrapper. One of the author's most successful works, later adapted by him into a play, and then filmed twice as a silent, in 1915 with Marc MacDermott as the doomed father, and then in 1926 with Richard Barthelmess swashbuckling through the title role.
