THE LOST CONTINENT in Pearson's Magazine for July thru December, 1899, Volume 8, first edition, a very good to very good plus copy bound in the publishers original ornate multi-colored decorated cloth. The true first edition of this tale of Atlantis with many illustrations not published in book form. Also contains works by George Griffith, Frankfort Moore, Rudyard Kipling, William Le Queux, Edith Nisbet, Walter Wood (sea stories) and others as well as two fantasies first published here and never reprinted anywhere else, namely, THE MONSTER OF LAKE LAMETRIE by Wardon Alan Curits which details the tale of a prehistoric creature from Symmes inner Earth revealing itself in the waters of Wyoming and THE MASTER OF THE OCTOPUS by Edward Olin Werks, a story about an invention of Perpetual Light. Also collected here and existing nowhere else is THE ADVENTURES OF SIRDAR MOHAMMED KHAN by Louis Tracy, a 6 episode affair of short stories of this Bengal Officer. Perhaps of most importance to some is the article SEEING BY WIRE by Cleveland Moffett which details this device and others by the now nearly forgotten inventor, Jan Szczepanik. You can read a bit about some of this incredible device (in ways the forerunner of television) second hand on line via a google search or you can purchase this and read the article in its entirety. Illustrated. (Inventory #: 11938)
