This was a major, two-part exhibition of American expressionism, held at the Art Students League, October 10-29, 1983 and at the Arbitrage Gallery, October 6 - November 7, 1983 (simultaneously). NOTE: the essay is dated 1977, but other dates listed run up to 1982 (last page, list of exhibitions), so this likely is the general catalogue for BOTH the 1983 exhibitions, and then each gallery has its own, smaller catalogue.
