Illustrated with b/w photographic reproductions and charts, this work is one of the first economic surveys of Jerusalem since Israel declared its independence in May 1948. Its purpose is to "give the reader in the English-speaking world precise information on the numerous aspects of the economy of the Holy City," an economy which - while broadly comparable to that of any modern city of similar size - is quite peculiar to its own historical and sociological climate.
