Watertown, New York: Knowleton Bros. Octavo. 24 unnumbered pages, fan folded with rich color examples. While Knowleton Brothers can trace their work to 1824, it was in the mid-1920's, they began creating the richest preparatory covers for the top designers. This volume is exquisite both in its materials used and its design: examples include Decorative Bands, Framed Borders, Wood Cuts, et al. Not found on OCLC though the company's print shop guide entitled Alhambra Covers was produced in 1913 where surviving copies are found in schools of design and special collections departments of universities. A handsome copy bound in brown stiff paper wraps decorated in yellow ad dark brown, short tear to head and foot along edge. A very nice item.
