A New System of Naval Architecture.

By Annesley, William.

London: W. Nicol, 1822. 4to. viii, 68 pp. plus 11 folding b/w folding engraved plates.

Annesley perfected his "New System" in America, where he published a description of it in 1816. It involved a new method of planking, intended to increase rigidity and strength of the hull. He also tried publicizing it in England. This led to the publication of the present volume in 1822, vastly expanded from the earlier version, which contained eleven pages and a single plate. Scott 545. A scarce title, not in McDonald. Bound in original paper covered boards. Backstrip chipped, hinges cracked but holding. Some offsetting to plates.
