by Kronhausen, E & B - [A Balch] - SEXUALITY
New York: Grove Press - Film Division, 1962 (?). Edition unknown.. Original box with a paper label.. Very good.. Ten minute black and white 8 mm film with sound.
Although uncredited, the British filmmaker Anthony Balch, famous for his collaborations with William Burroughs, contributed footage to this montage of sexually suggestive images and soundtrack. As Vogel states: ' Sexologists, psychologists, and proponents of sexual freedom the Kronhausens here attempt to induce erotic response in the audience by carefully chosen visual stimuli and juxtapositions (aimed at both the conscious and unconscious). Phallic symbols and open orifices ... almost any object or act, no matter how innocuous, the Kronhausens show, can be made to appear erotic, and reveals our predisposition towards shaping visual evidence for purposes of erotic gratification'. See Vogel, Film as Subversive Art, pp. 229 - 230; OCLC shows only Harvard for a 16mm version in 1962. (Inventory #: 15068)
