Cleveland, Ohio, 1928. Hardcover. Very Good. Oblong octavo measuring 8" x 5.5". String-tied black leather over stiff paper boards with "photographs of Cleveland" handwritten on the front board. Contains 138 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs measuring between 2" x 3" and 3.5" x 6" with some captions. Very good album with rubbing and edgewear with near fine photographs.
A photo album kept by a primary school teacher in Cleveland, Ohio beginning in 1928. The photos are compiled by a young woman and show her with her friends outside of the school as well as events with her class. The album begins with a photo captioned "The Gang!" and shows the woman and her friends all posed together on a roof top. This is followed by a photo captioned "the male quartet and the Ford" and shows a group of young men hanging out of their new ford. Her "beginner sewing class" is photographed here and a group that was performing "Children of Old Glory" in 1929. She taught cooking and sewing classes and is seen here teaching and posed for class portraits. The classes are seen around a school house, on a picnic, and playing out of doors. Also included is an envelope with loose photographs and negatives from around the same time with one photo of a nurse from 1943.
An interesting collection of photographs detailing a young woman's teaching career and time with her friends in Ohio in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
