With biographical narrative, followed by a catalogue list of 100 paintings, as well as a list of artwork held in collections. Prepared at the request of the Committee on the Bi-Centennial Celebration of The Founding of Yale College. This copy was owned by American artist Alexander T. Van Laer and carries his bookplate and perhaps his signature on the first flyleaf. Some margin notes on technique are made in pencil on the illustrations or their versos, and these may have been written by him as well. Here you get two artists for the price of one! Uncommon.
