by Rantoul, Robert
Washington, D. C.: Printed at the Congressional Globe Office, 1852. First edition. Self wrappers. A very good untrimmed, unopened (uncut) copy with small chip to top corner, mail fold.. 8 pp. Sm. 4to. Rantoul argued that he is not part of any 'corrupt group' and that he has always been an opponent of the Fugitive Slave Law, but he is against the government intervening in abolishing slavery as it is a matter of states' rights. He is also against payment for slaves as it will bankrupt the government and is a waste of money since slavery will soon be abolished on its own. Not in LCP. Afro-Americana, Blockson, Dumond, Work. Sabin 67908. (Inventory #: 27800)
