by [Saint Domingue]
Port-Au-Prince: De l'Imprimerie de Mozar, 1790. 12pp. Single unbound folded gathering. Publication date inscribed in colored pencil on titlepage, light dust soiling at fore-edge. Near fine. Untrimmed. Dated July 30, 1790, this letter, already a bit late given events in Saint Domingue, demands the use of force by the Governor General to dissolve the rival legislative assembly at Saint Marc. Revealing of the profound disagreements between colonists regarding the future of the island, this letter contains all the motifs of dissatisfaction aroused in the period just prior to the Rebellion. A scarce Saint Domingue imprint, with only a handful of copies noted in OCLC. SABIN 75141 (Inventory #: WRCAM52359)
