Two plays by the author of *The Jazz Singer*. *Accent on Youth* was the basis for three films: the first in 1935 directed by Wesley Ruggles and featuring Astrid Allwyn and Lon Chaney, Jr.; *Mr. Music* in 1950 directed by Richard Haydn and featuring Bing Crosby, Nancy Olson and Charles Coburn; and finally in 1959 as *But Not for Me* directed by Walter Lang and featuring Clark Gable, Carroll Baker, Lilli Palmer and Lee J.
