Handsome facsimile, with transcriptions and study, of the scientific voyage in 1790/91 of Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira (b. Salvador 1756, d. 1815) to Pará, Rio Negro, Mato Grosso and Cuiabá. One of the results was the production of fantastic drawings and paintings of people, birds, fish, mammals, cities, forts, rivers and landscapes. These facsimiles are an important reference to the people, fauna, and landscapes of northeastern and far western Brazil in the 18th century.
