The María Josefa Huarte collection, which consists of a total of 48 works by 19 artists, is a very singular example of private collection that must be understood in the context of collecting and patronage that the Huarte family developed between the 1950s and 1970s The collection was started at the end of the 50s following essentially his personal taste, privileging geometric and abstract art, and focusing mainly on Spanish authors, although they include works by Mark Rothko and Wassily Kandinsky, and even a Picasso of the last time. Of particular note are the groups of works by Oteiza, Palazuelo and Tàpies, both for the quality of the pieces and for the way in which they reflect the evolution of each of the artists. Of Oteiza also includes two unique and unique pieces in the production of the sculptor, the direct relief Tribute to Bach and the chimney Elias and his car of fire, both of 1956 and that have had to be carefully disassembled of the house of Madrid where they were installed Originally for later to be mounted again in the Museum in Pamplona.
