Autograph Letter Signed from Mary Pickford to Film Director Alfred E. Green

N.p: 2 pages, written on 2 sides of a printed Cunard Steamship Lines notecard, September 29, 1921. Pickford writes to Green: "...Received your wire wishing us Bon Voyage. How are you getting on? It must seem strange to be back on the Goldwyn lot. Have you done anything about the cars? Please don't let them bother you, don't hesitate to wire if you find that you are too busy and say that you find you are too busy to look after them. I'll understand. Kindest regards to you and Mrs. Green. With the original envelope stamped and mailed in France on arrival. With (truncated) a faint touch of aging and minor handling, else fine. In 1921, Green directed Mary Picture in two of her better feature films, Through the Back Door and Little Lord Fauntleroy. Alfred E. Green (1889 - 1960) directed some of the brightest stars of his time, including Wallace Reid, Colleen Moore, and Bette Davis who won a Best Actress Oscar for her role in his 1935 film Dangerous. He is otherwise best known for his films Baby Face (1933) with Barbara Stanwyck and George Brent, The Jolson Story (1946) with Larry Parks, Evelyn Keyes, and William Demarest, and The Jackie Robinson Story (1950) with Jackie Robinson, Ruby Dee, and Minor Robinson. He made his last feature, Top Banana, with Phil Silvers in 1954 and spent the remainder of his career directing episodic TV series. (Inventory #: 15422J)
