Germany: Kurt Wolff Verlag, 1920. Hardbound. VG or better. Original wraps bound into black library buckram. 164 pp., with many tipped-in color and bw plates, original woodcuts and lithograph. A superb example of this important publication. In almost like new condition, bound safely into protective library buckram. Deaccessioned from an art reference library as an odd volume when a complete run was donated. Includes original woodcuts by Andre Rouveyre, Max Kaus, Kirchner and many finely printed tipped-in offset plates, a few of them in color. Also has a lengthy illustrated article on Mattise by Levy. With important essays by the leading contemporaries complementing the plates. "Genius" was a landmark publication that had become the greatest influence on the German art and architecture of the pre-war years. (Inventory #: 103027)
