Brian Cassidy Bookseller is the counterculture department of Type Punch Matrix, a rare book firm founded in 2019 by Rebecca Romney and Brian Cassidy. BCB @ TPM specializes in the avant-garde in all its various guises, including: The Beats; poetry; music; esoterica; artists’ books; small journals and magazines (especially those associated with the Mimeo Revolution); modern and contemporary art; photography; letters, manuscripts, and archives; as well as vernacular, folk, and outsider books.
Cassidy has been involved in the book business in one form or another since 1994, including four years at Denver's Tattered Cover where he worked as a buyer. In 2004 he began Brian Cassidy, Bookseller and from 2006-2009, maintained an open bookshop in Monterey, CA. In 2020, BCB officially joined TPM as BCB @ TPM. The company is based in the Washington DC area.
Cassidy is a member of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB), the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America (ABAA), the Independent Online Booksellers' Association (where he chairs the Ethics Committee), the Washington Area Booksellers Association, the Washington Rare Book Group, The Baltimore Bibliophiles, The Fine Press Book Association, and The Bibliographical Society of America. In addition he is a member of the faculty at both the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar and Rare Book School.
