Minor scuffing to boards. Slight creasing, chipping and discoloration to dj. An account of the excavations at Sitagroi which took place between 1968-1970. "The project focused on the prehistoric archaeology and the early environment at Sitagroi and in the plain of Drama. Three main objects were defined: to explore the chronological relationship between the Balkans and the Aegean and thus test the validity of the calibrated radiocarbon dating method defining this relationship; to document the full culture sequence in what was virtually terra incognita, and relate the findings to the Balkan and Aegean culture groups; and the most challenging, to explore the relationship between the inhabitants and their environment over some three millennia, from 5500/5200-2700/2200 BC. This volume introduces the nature and development of the project, presents the environmental studies, geomorholohy, vegetation history, as well as studies of settlement pattern in the Drama Plain, the culture sequence, and the full corpus of Figurines, social ceramics, and the pottery styles and forms representing middle neolithic through early bronze age." Illustrated with color and b/w photographs as well as drawings and fold-out plans. Very good condition. (Inventory #: 14732)
