Well illus. : 102 engravings & 2 photo plates. Stiff wraps. The Incoherents were an artist group formed as an ironic counterpoint to the serious, academic movements of the late 19th century. Founded in 1882 by Jules Levy, it was a precursor to Dadaism & Surrealism. Lists the artists. Supplement to the catalogue containing illustrations (16 plates) & notes on each; alphabetical table of contents; souvenir retrospective in rear, 1882-1883. The movement wound down in the 1890's.
