Laconia, NH: John J. Lane, 1890. Paper wraps. 32pp. Good with minor chipping to covers. Isaac wanted Hiram's property and so he murdered him. Although he buried the body in Berwick, Maine, some believed the murder took place across the border in New Hampshire. See McDade 852.

8 page letter from Sarah (last name unknown), to her brother. Carleton, St. John: Sept. 17th, 1853
Very readable and in good condition. Over 50 lines are dedicated to the recent Railroad Jubilee or railroad demonstrations that taken place recently. The governor's wife made a speech and dug up the first sod. Between 40 and 50,000 in attendance there was a large procession made up of various tradesmen and even a float with Adam and Eve.

Poetry Copy Book Belonging to H. [Hugh] B. Lougee of East Parsonfield, Maine
c.1880's. Twenty one pages of poetry. Among the poems is Edmund Clarance Stedman's poem in John Brown. Lougee was a framer, teacher and member of the Free Will Baptists. During his lifetime in Parsonsfield, the Free Will Baptists had a seminary that served the Underground Railroad. In the 1850's the school was burned, killing several students and enslaved people. Although they blamed the anti-abolitionists, they could never prove it.

Berstein & Co, 1913. Words by Thomas Blue, Music by Harry C. Loll. 5 pp. Closely cropped at top of first page. Thaw was a rich playboy who killed architect Stamford White to avenge advances on his wife, Evelyn Nesbit. The trial was called the Trial of the Century. A fascinating case.
