New York, 1920. Very Good. Personal-sized check. 16 x 7 cm. Dated June 9, 1920. Red bank stamp on back indicating that this was paid on June 14, 1920. An interesting bit of early Harlem Renaissance ephemera. We don't know why Johnson wrote this check to A'lelia Walker. Online information suggests that J. Rosamond Johnson was a frequent guest at Walker's parties and dances in Harlem that were popular with musicians, writers, artists, etc.
