Original cloth, covers a bit worn and bumped with head of spine to Volume I torn; other than the preliminaries being somewhat browned, a good copy. First edition, considered by historians as his major work. Bosanquet (1848-1923), a political theorist, was influential on matters of political and social policy in Great Britain. He was quite knowledgeable about the philosophyt of ancient Greece and became a follower of German philosophers Kant and Hegel. He was later criticized by thinkers such as Bertrand Russell and John Dewey. He was a member of the Aristotelian Society and served as its President.
