Bound in original black cloth titled in gilt on spine. Very brittle cloth spine and joints exhibit splits at upper joint and spine. FInger tear at head of spine. Inscribed "Good hunting!" and signed by the author on half-title. A signed copy of a fairly scarce title, with care taken against defects in manufacture that plague this edition.

Account, based on official records and personal knowledge, of police work in Canada's north from the Klondike gold rush and on. After the Great War (where he fought at Flanders and achieved the rank of Major) Steele took part in the Canadian Government Sovereignty Expedition into the High Arctic of 1925.
