Minor spotting throughout text, otherwise clean. First edition of a very scarce work on conditions in Italy and Sicily during the early 1800’s. Simond (1767-1831), a French author, details his travels as well as his immersion in the political, artistic, and social debates of the region. His observations on the revolutionary atmosphere of Italy after the defeat of Napoleon reflects in detail reactions to the changes the country was experiencing, noting it “was the eve of its true revolutions.”
