A dramatization of the rise and fall of US Senator Joseph McCarthy, whose Red Scare fearmongering and persecution of suspected communists and homosexuals (and other so-called subversives) at the height of his political power proved to be his eventual downfall. Nominated for six Emmy awards and winning two, including one for Best Screenplay.
