Taking their name from Marshall McLuhan's 1964 UNDERSTANDING MEDIA, Zavrion and Neugroschel's EXTENSIONS bridged the worlds of art of poetry in ways not unlike 0 TO 9. As Gwen Allen wrote, "They were interested in how the magazine itself was a medium capable of extending language into other realms," a fact evident from the very first issue, which printed a version of Dan Graham's "Schema," four texts by Vito Acconci, and graffiti poems written by students in Paris during May 1968.
