Moscow: I.N. Kushnerev i Ko, 1904. Good. Oblong 355 x 255 mm; 25 color lithograph plates extracted from Alferaki's Gusi rossii and bound together in plain blue leather veneer boards. Captions in Cyrillic and Latin. Frontispiece plate (by Sushkin) a little dusty and discolored at the margins; one other plate rather foxed; all others quite clean and unmarred. Boards a bit bowed.
The frontispiece plate by P.P. Sushkin shows a lakeside scene with flocks of geese, and bears the caption "At Lake Kayran-ku; Turgay District, in September 1898, from a watercolor made from nature...." As far as we can tell, the lake was located in modern Khazakstan It is followed by 24 plates of geese by the British naturalist F.W. Frohawk. (Inventory #: 6573)
