Based on the 1915 novel by W. Somerset Maugham. A sensitive, clubfooted young man falls in love with a mercurial tearoom waitress. A breakout role for actress Bette Davis, and the first of three adaptations of Maugham's novel, followed by one in 1946 and one in 1964.
