In last two years here, 1856 and 1857, the almanac's name became The Tribune Almanac for the simple reason that the Whig Party had died, in 1854. The blue wrap covers of the individual years are bound in as well. Also bound in is "The Know Nothing Almanac and True Americans' Manual, for 1855.) 8vo. 19 by 13 cm. Condition: calf is moderately rubbed, and boards have some small stains and a film of light soiling spread somewhat evenly. Scattered foxing on leaves within. A tight copy, and (truncated) well-preserved copies of these politically partison almanacs issued by The New York Tribune, which was run by the highly influential journalist, Horace Greeley.
