A little dog named Muffin gets a cinder in his eye and must wear a blindfold and rely on his sense of hearing. But what object goes with the sounds he is hearing? The book begs the reader / listener to interact and puzzle out the sounds. This was a novel idea for a picture book at the time, devised by Brown and Weisgard with the help of the Bank Street Nursery School (See Bader pgs. 224-5).
