Harley Davidson Bikers Photo Archive 1980s California

[Harley Davidson Motorcycle culture] Photo archive of 34 color photographs from the 1980s of a group of California bikers, possibly the Modesto Harley Davidson club chapter. Photos measure around 3.5" x 5". Three photos are datestamped between 1986 and 87, the rest undated by from appear to be from around the same time period. Bikes appear in almost every photo; most, if not all, are Harley Davidsons. A variety of styles are ridden, from cruisers to touring bikes to modded choppers. Many of the bikes are equipped for the long haul, with saddlebags and supplies loaded on. A few photos show the bikers cruising through the main strip of Gustine, California, (truncated) a small Central Valley agricultural town near Modesto. This is a mixed crowd, with many men and women making up the chapter. While in Gustine, the crew rumbles down the main drag, flying their Harley Davidson club flag, the American flag, and even the Confederate flag. The bikers look the part, with vests full of patches and pins, leather from head to toe, denim, boots, sunglasses, and bandanas. Big hair on both the women and the men, mullets, and beards compliment the rough and tough style of the crew. The bikers like to personalize their rides, with a few photos showing a chopper nicknamed the "Pair of Aces" and another showing bikes that had been wrapped in tinsel. An interesting visual history of a truly American subculture. Very good condition overall. (Inventory #: 19731)
