Williamsburg, Brooklyn: Raleigh Industries Co., Inc., June 13, 1962. Printed Steel. Very good. Seven 20 x 28 cm. steel samples. Remember back in the day, when the milkman would deliver your dairy products right to your front porch? During the 1950's all the way up to the 1970's, throughout suburban America, a normal day would start with retrieving your milk, eggs, and cottage cheese from the insulated steel box outside your front door. The next step would be to leave the empty bottles in the box along with a note for the next day's delivery. These steel samples are printed with the various items that you could have delivered including: Sour Cream, Half & Half, Light Cream, Heavy Cream, Buttermilk, Fat Free Milk, Butter, Eggs, Chocolate Drink, Creamed Cottage Cheese, Orange Juice, Grapefruit Juice, Yogurt, Margarine. Each sample is different but they all have similar statements such as: Try Our, Do you need, Just Leave a Note, Please Rinse and Return Empty Bottles, Our Drivers Sell, etc. Companies printed label affixed to each sample. The original mailing envelope is included - these samples were being shipped to THE CHRISTIAN PETERSEN CO., INC., West Hartford, CT (Inventory #: 4176)
