Washington DC, 1906. Cards. After President Theodore Roosevelt was laying the Corner-Stone of the Office Building of the House of Representatives, the following day at the Hotel Gordon they were serving Frizzled Beef in Cream Mush for breakfast, Honey Comb Tripe a la Creole for lunch, and Roast Young Vermont Turkey, stuffed, with cranberry sauce for dinner.
The green breakfast menu (18 x 12 cm.) features Hominy Grits, Codfish Cakes, Calf's Liver and Bacon, along with a choice of 6 differently prepared eggs, 6 differently prepared potatoes, 13 various types of bread, and cereal. Visible crease to the middle with some toning and small stains.
The pink luncheon menu is illustrated and features Blanched White Fish with Brown Butter Sauce, Scalloped Veal aux Mushrooms, Peas, Ox Tongue and Pickled Lamb's Tongue, with Tea, Coffee, Chocolate, and Milk. Light toning.
The cream dinner menu is also illustrated and leads off with Broiled Potomac Shad Robhambeau, followed by some choices including Boiled Philadelphia Capon with Oyster Dressing, Turkey, Roast Rib of Prime New York Beef, 5 choices of dessert, fruit, cheese, and crackers. Visible crease to the middle with 1 cm. loss to bottom corner.
