According to the author's preface, "the chief actor... has brooded over the long-withheld secret of his life... [for] fear of consequences .... but no reader ... will but acquit him of responsibility or blame for the final tragedy." A romantic story of adventure with a tragic ending. Very interesting reading for the adventure enthusiast.
