Avoca & Pulaski Wisconsin; Waterloo, Iowa, 1902-1925. Illustrated wraps. Good. 7 pages. A handwritten culinary manuscript, possible compiled as part of a home economics course. Despite English being her second language, Carrie Schiffler's grammar and composition are notably strong. Recipes include "Raisin Pie," "Cheap Common Layer Cake," "Ginger Cake," "Ping Pong Caramels," "Devil's Food Cake," and many others.
Caroline (Schiffler) Hall (1884-1930), also known as "Carrie" was born in Germany and emigrated to the United States with her family in 1887. In 1900 she was living in Pulaski Wisconsin, with her brother and four sisters - her brother listed as head of household and employed as a farmer. She married in 1915 and died of Cancer in 1930.
Twelve additional pages of recipes laid in, along with two pamphlets. Covers rubbed and creased, interior stained.
