An early 20th-century work on Chinese cooking by an artist, poet and culinary instructor. Born in China, Yang came to the United states in the 1920s to study art in Philadelphia. She later taught language, art and cooking classes in a range of institutions, including the University of California, Stanford University, and the Defense Language Institute at the Presidio in Monterey. The volume features recipes drawn from imperial cuisine, Mandarin traditions, renowned restaurants and regional home cooking across China. Covers creased and rubbed. Interior very lightly foxed.
