The companion film to director, screenwriter, and actor Vilgot Sjöman's groundbreaking 1967 film "I Am Curious (Yellow)." Sjöman originally intended both films to be combined as one three and a half hour film.
The continuation of Sjöman's examination of social and political mores of 1960s Sweden, with Sjöman's then lover, actress Lena Nyman. Taking place before and after "I Am Curious (Yellow)," "Blue" focuses more on personal relationships and religion, and less on class consciousness and non-violent social movements.
