KERAMIC ART OF JAPAN

By AUDSLEY, GEORGE ASHDOWN, AND BOWES, J.
1875. AUDSLEY, George Ashdown, and BOWES, James Lord. KERAMIC ART OF JAPAN. London: Henry Sotheran & Co, 1875. First edition, in 7 part. Folio. In total: lxxi + 61pp. with 12 plates (plate "J" not included, as usual); 50 (of 51-- plate #35 missing) plates with accompanying text (missing text page for plate 50) + list of marks and monograms, with 4 plates. 66 plates in all. Overall, a very good set. Some plates show light soiling at and along the edges as wells as a few nicks. The wrappers, (all are present) are either separated or quite worn at the folds and the contents are extracted from each one. All plates and text pages are loose. Internally, there is only occasional foxing and/or a touch of soil but overall it is a clean, bright, and pleasing example of this magnificent Victorian color plate book in an unusual format. A copy of the prospectus (folio size) is included.
