Second edition of this valuable study on insects, based on the author's microscopic observations. He here illustrates the life cycles of several types of insects that live in water, and gives a detailed description of each insect depicted. Schäffer (1718-90), an early entomologist, wrote numerous scientific treatises, especially on vertebrate zoology.
