Christopher Columbus and the discovery of the new world

London: Marcus Ward & Co, 1878. Second edition. With 51 drawings on wood and 6 etchings by Léopold Flameng. Original publishers decorated cloth, rebacked and recornered in morocco, a.e.g.; interior excellent. First edition published in England; it appears the first edition in English was printed in Philadelphia the prior year, all from the original French of 1864. An excellent biography of Columbus, with details on his various trips to the new world, including lovely illustrations. Written for all ages, it does not necessarily provide any new information over and above what you learned in school, but it is a fascinating story nonetheless.
