Edges worn, and many corners rounded; paper labels partly missing from first two volumes. Scattered moderate dampstaining and spots, yet very good condition overall.

Galland not only translated the Arabic text (which derived from an earlier Persian model, now lost), but he added a few stories of his own, including Alladin and his Magic Lamp, and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, both later Disneyfied into the American mainstream.
