In late September 1952, Rocky Marciano won the heavyweight championship in a thrilling 13th round knockout over Jersey Joe Walcott. This issue of Ring covers the fight, and introduces readers to the new champion. This issue also covers some of the recent fights of Kid Gavilan, a middleweight contender at that time.
